A not so serious AFL weekly round recap of Round 19
Adelaide Crows (115) vs Essendon Bombers (113)
See Bombers fly what, where? Well, it certainly isn't up. They are on one of the biggest slides you ever did see. Ben Keays turning into prime Darren Jarman was awesome, and Rachele pulling a James Hird, making a fan's night on the front line. What a game; this is Friday night footy. How good!
GWS Giants (89) vs Gold Coast Suns (50)
Ok, Gold Coast, it's getting ridiculous. You gotta just win one at some point. You know what I mean. Like, c'mon. "You've got 80% of your premiership team in this room." Yeah, sorry, but bullsh*t. I mean, you certainly could have 80%, but you just have to maybe remove 80% of your Gold Coast fingers out of your ass.
St Kilda Saints (113) vs West Coast Eagles (41)
I went to this one. Honestly, not much to be desired here. We were bad, West Coast were worse. Tim Membrey got his flowers, which he deserved, and my man Zak Jones, after a tough week, had a better week than usual. All I hope now is that we can be the grim reapers and take down Essendon next week.
Hawthorn Hawks (133) vs Collingwood Magpies (67)
These Hawks, man. My word, what I'd do to be a Hawthorn right now. Just so bloody cool with it. Jack Ginnivan, most disposals on ground, hyped Steph Curry good night celebration. Just a bunch of cool cats doing cool cat things. God, I could write a whole article on Hokball. This team is single-handedly saving the AFL and making it great again. In 10 years' time, we will look back at this team as the model of success, just like we have for Richmond.
Western Bulldogs (95) vs Geelong Cats (48)
Adam Treloar, you beauty. Not only for my fantasy team but for those Doggies. Three top-three teams in a row. Two down and one to go, on to Sydney this week. People are talking about the condition of this ground. However, I loved it. It reminded me of vintage games out in the mud. Bring it back. I'd like to think teams could do this for a tactical advantage. However, Geelong did not win.
Port Adelaide (116) vs Richmond Tigers (75)
Port just get it done, however unconvincingly at best. For a team down the bottom, it's tough to warrant that Port let them kick 75 on their head whilst keeping it tight the entire game. Port come out winners on paper, but I think they lose slight credibility in the prelude to finals fever.

Brisbane Lions (79) vs Sydney Swans (77)
Some people are calling this the match of the year. It had clutch goals, clutch moments, and in the end, went the way of the home side. Brisbane, kings of the Gabbatoir. From a woeful start to pole position to land a top 4, maybe even a top 2 spot, they are humming nicely. They even managed to win off the back of a quiet Neale and Dunkley game. Sydney is starting to lose quite a few close ones; at some point, you imagine the footy gods will reward them with a close win. Will it come in a final, however?
Fremantle Dockers (116) vs Melbourne Demons (66)
A scoreline that flatters the Demons better than they played. Some red time goals to the Demons bring this disastrous loss to a 50-point defeat. Fremantle, with the western spunk that keeps flying just under the radar of the eastern state teams. You'd imagine Demons are now forced to pick a ruckman. I know some analysts have them as overrated, but when you get dominated in the clearances like that, you have to wonder where it all went wrong. I know maybe, "The selection table."
Carlton Blues (107) vs North Melbourne Kangaroos (88)
North honourable in defeat. They are still managing to mess up the easiest of opportunities, like a late Eddie Ford shot. However, when it all comes together for this Kangas side, it'll be dangerous. Harry Sheezel had one of those games, and definitely in 2-3 years, you can imagine him being the face of the league. A young Pendlebury, the way he goes about it. Leadership qualities up the wazoo with longevity on his mind.
lucky we've got the hapless lions at the torture dome this week
